Aim and specific objectives

Based on a holistic vision of language teaching, our project aims at developing both integrated language didactics and language awareness activities as well as interlinguistic and inercomprehension activities between near languages. It aims at collecting and modelising teaching practices. We will then elaborate didactic materials based on those languages used as stepping stones to work on two different continuua: linguistic proximities (near languages, parent languages, collateral languages) an variational proximities (varieties of the dominant language, varieties of the minority language).
Those components clearly identify the project as being part of the plurilingual and pluricultural education domain, and although they will be mainly experimented in Western Europe, attention will be given to Eastern European contexts.
Specific objectives
In order to reach our objectives, one of our first taks will be to collect field data, before a more theoretical phase where we will be able to elaborate didactic materials. More specifically, we will thus:
  1. seek, check out and observe examples of existing good practice among the teams of teachers we work with in the various counries involved in the project.
  1. conceive and experiment integrated didactic tools and frameworks, while favouring:                                                                                                
  • plurilingual and pluricultural education (through language awareness activities)                                                                                                       
  • a general consciousness with regard to language historical evolution principles and processes and variation                                                                                                        
  • the development of plurilingual compenetces through plurilingual tasks (interlinguistic activities, intercomprehension)
  1.  We will then be able to link our partner schools through electronic means of communication (email, website etc.) so that they can exchanges tools and experiences.
  2. And finally, we will provide teachers and teacher trainers reference tools so thet they can themselves implement the activities and thus acquire a set of plurilingual tools which will be integrated into their practices.
